Say
“Hello” to Your New Neighbor!

"My name is Patricia Cook (Patty). I just moved into Ap= artment 111 in the 1945 building and STILL trying to get organized. I have lived in West St. Paul for = nearly 20 years, eighteen of those years in the same apartment. So, making this move was very hard= but my children tell me change is good, especially “change for something better.” I have worked = at Minnesota Life Insurance in downtown St. Paul for the last 32 years. I hope to retire in the next coupl= e of years. I have three grown, ma= rried children, two daughters and one son. My daughters live in Anoka and Centerville in Minnesota and my son l= ives down in Louisiana. I have 7 grandchildren ranging from ages 7 to 25.&n= bsp; I have several hobbies. I love cross stitch and crochet. Reading murder mysteries and doing jig saw puzzles (I love the puzzl= e area here). I am sure I am going to enjoy living here. Everybody = has been very friendly and it’s so quiet. I love that it is so clean. I have never seen a cleaner laundry room. I am looking forward to meeting all my new neighbors. I have met several of you already. It will probably take me years to remember everybody's names but I’m goi= ng to start now!
From Terese's Desk

I hope everyone is thawing out from our January 'DEEP FREEZE'! Hopefully, with two = months of winter gone, the remaining 2 months will be kind both in temperature and snow fall.
As we are all coming down off our 'HOLIDAY HIGH', Janu= ary seems kind of boring in comparison. We sure missed Mary while she was off sunning in Mexico, but glad she had the time to re-coop from her chest cold. Let's hope the "FLU SEASON&qu= ot; passes by without affecting us all.
Our unit inspections of the smoke detectors and plumbi= ng went well. Someone once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” so we will be notifying those residents where we will be proactively replacing sink traps that are beginning to corrode. Be patient, as it may take a month or two to complete the job due to the numbe= r of units involved.
I will be sending out amended 'House Rules' to all residents. The memo will expl= ain specific changes made to Item #9 - Garage storage. Please read this item carefully and familiarize yourselves with these changes.= CCM will need to enforce the City of West Saint Paul’s Fire Co= de to avoid any possible fine or penalty and to make everyone as safe as can b= e. Your complete cooperation is appreciated!
On a personal note, the wedding plans for my son are beginning to affect me. May i= s just around the corner and I wasn't expecting my emotions to be so "overwhelming!" I'm= on the hunt for the perfect 'Mother of the Groom' dress. I have my eye on one (which my hus= band really likes!), but may spend some time looking around to be sure.
My
daughter's wedding plans change on a daily basis and I feel as though I'm on
the roller coaster ride of my life.
One day it's a destination wedding in San Diego, the next day we're =
back
here in Minnesota. My vote is=
for
the Landmark Center in downtown St. Paul.&=
nbsp;
We'll see how much clout I really have. Until next month......

A MESSAGE FROM MARY
Ha=
ppy
Valentines Day to everyone! B=
e sure
to attend the Valentine’s Day brunch on Sat. February 14th Kevin and Kathy will again be your
gracious hosts. Remember ther=
e will
not be coffee and donuts that day.
I will not be able to attend, because my 16 year old niece, who now
lives with us, has a gymnastic conference that day and I will be helping ou=
t because
Forest Lake is hosting the event.
It was really nice se=
eing so
many of you at Potluck this past Monday night. The food was fantastic and again a=
nd the
company was great. Thanks Mitzi for the lovely fruit centerpiece for the ta=
ble,
we all enjoyed looking at it and eating it.
I would like to thank
everyone for your co-operation with the unit inspections. Everything went very well and we w=
ere
able to get all but one floor done on Monday. I am very sorry for the misunderst=
anding
about Tuesday and sorry to everyone on the first floor of the 55 building f=
or
the mix up in time. We did fi=
nd a
few pipes under sinks that are starting to corrode and we will be getting to
them in the next month or two. We
will give you a call the day before we would like to enter your apartment i=
f we
found any problems in your apartment.
The boulder wall is p=
retty
much complete. Sorry about al=
l the
noise, dirt, and inconvenience. If
you rent a garage stall, you probably have noticed water leaking in sometim=
es,
especially in the spring or after a heavy rainfall. The former owners tried
installing “Beaver Dam” and we regraded all around the 45 build=
ing
but nothing has solved the problem so far. But we can see how “tacky&=
#8221;
it is to walk through water after you have your car safely
“inside.” Plus, w=
eather
forecasters are predicting flooding this spring and we thought we better all
bite the bullet and get it done right.&nbs=
p;
So, once again, we must ask for your cooperation while we install dr=
ain
tile along the walls where the water is coming in. We are starting now, so =
that
hopefully we will have it completed by the spring thaw. We are going to be working in four
parking stalls at a time and we will
ask th=
at you
park outside during the day only while we work on your stall. You will be notified of the time i=
n advance. It should only be for a day or two=
at
the most, per car. I know it =
is
winter but we have to get the work done before the thaw in the spring. We promise no one will have to lea=
ve
there car out overnight during the process. Thanks so very much for all your
patience during our many projects to make Country Club Manor the best place=
to
live in W. St. Paul.
Have a great month an=
d God
Bless you all! <=

For the funny bone
Three male Labradors, 1 chocolate, 1 yellow, and 1 black... Were sitting in a waiting room at the vet”s when they struck up a conversation. The black Lab turned to the chocolate Lab and said, “So why are you here?”
The brown Lab replied, = 8220;I’m a pee’er. I pee on everything, the sofa, the curtains, the cat, the k= ids, whatever. But the final= straw was last night when I pee’d in the middle of my owners’ bed.= 221; The black Lab said, “So what is the vet going to do?” “I’m supposed to be castrated,” the chocolate Lab said with a whimper in his voice.
“They’ve been= told it’ll calm me down.”
The black Lab then turned= to the yellow Lab and asked, “And why are you here?”
The yellow Lab said, R= 20;I’m a digger. I dig under fences, dig up flowers and newly planted trees, I dig just for the hell of it. When I’m inside, I dig up the carpets. But I went over the line last night when I dug a great big hole in my owner’= ;s leather couch.” “So what = are they going to do to you?” the black Lab inquired. “I”m su= pposed to be neutered too,” the dejected yellow Lab said.
The yellow Lab then turne= d to the black Lab and asked, “So why are you here?”
“I’m a humper=
,”
the black Lab said. “I’ll hump anything. I’ll hump the cat, a pillow, a
table leg, fence posts, a human’s legs, whatever. I want to hump everything I see.
The yellow and chocolate = Labs exchanged sad glances and said, “So, nuts off for you too, huh?”= ;
The black Lab said, ̶= 0;No, I’m here to get my nails clipped.”
"Twinkies & Root
Beer"
A little boy wanted to meet GOD. He knew it was a long tr= ip to where GOD lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of = Root Beer and he started his journey. When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park ju= st feeding some pigeons. The boy= sat down next to him and opened his suitcase.&= nbsp; He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that= the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie. The man gratefully accepted= it and smiled at the boy. His sm= ile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a ro= ot beer. Again, the man smiled a= t him. The boy was delighted!
They sat there all afternoo= n eating and smiling, but they never said a word.&n= bsp; As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran = back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the doo= r to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, &quo= t;What did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I had lunch with GOD". But before his mot= her could respond, he added, "You know what? GOD'S got the most beautiful smile= I've ever seen!"
Meanwhile, the elderly man,= also radiant with joy, returned to his home.&nb= sp; His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked, "Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?" He replied, "I ate Twinkies i= n the park with GOD." Before h= is son responded, the elderly man added, "You know, he's much younger than I expected!"
Too often we underestimate = the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest complime= nt, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a li= fe around. People come into our = lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.&nbs= p; Embrace all equally!

Monday’s Potluck

Pat Wacker Update:
CCM would like to extend our best w= ishes during this transition period for Pat.&nbs= p; I've spoken to several of her daughters over the past two weeks and inquired about her health. Su= rgery on her shoulder went very well, however, Pat will no longer be able to live independently here at CCM. The family has moved Pat to the Marion Center in St. Paul. She will be moving into an assisted living apartment very soon. I= 'm sure Pat is looking forward to having her own things to surround herself wi= th and she will miss all her friends here very much. Her daughters gave me Pat's new telephone number for those residents that would like to contact Pat to say 'HELLO' - 651-340-2778
