ON OUR WAY TO = TREASURE ISLAND!

On August 6, we had a beautiful day for cruising down the river to fun and gam= es. Unlike most trips to Treasure Island, “getting there was half the fun.” The scenery along the river was beautiful, even breathtaking in places.&nb= sp; Here are a few photographs to give you an idea:

A NOTE FROM GEORGE

Hi everyone! Another month has passed. I can almost se= e the snowflakes. Just joking. I know we have a lot of summer left. As I write this, we have two, 2 bedrooms available, facing nor= th. The 1955 building will be full as of October 1st. The two remaining apartme= nts are both in the 1945 building. You will probably see new faces around, so please introduce yourselves, and welcome our new residents. Our August 6th cruise on the river to Treasure Island w= as a beautiful trip. The perfect weather, good food and nice conversations, were just a few things we had on the trip. Ken Knoll (#306), who lived on the river—or should I say “above the river”—where we we= re cruising, explained a lot about its history and what to look for so that was nice. I guess the sunken boat is a WWII mine sweeper and the one of all the trees was either Ken and Maryann’s former home or one that looked like it.

3D"Te= I never win at the casinos, and this tr= ip didn't prove otherwise. Next year we will have to plan a couple of trips ag= ain. Kevin and Kathy put up notices about the Vikings games, where people get together and watch the game in the Club Room. Everyone is welcome to attend, and root for the VIKINGS. The work on the roof is going slow in the 1955 building, but when it is done, it will look very nice. Please have patience. Thanks

VIKINGS UPDATE

GARAGE SALE IS A SUCCESS! =

Thank you to all who participated in the CCM garage sa= le. Lots of $$$ was made and better yet we had a great time. The friendship, laughter, and working together was priceless. We= would like to make this a yearly event so start looking around for items to sell = for next June. We will let= everyone know about a week ahead of time so we can monitor the weather. We sure were blessed this year with 2 beautiful days. A special th= ank you goes out to Ken Knoll for all his time and hard work. We couldn't have = done it without you Ken! Kevin & Kathy

A MESSAGE FROM MARY<= /span>

3DNic= I am not sure if George has told yo= u as of yet, but he is going to be eligible for SS shortly and so can’t ea= rn as much. Instead of losing him altogether, we came up with this compromise: I will be going to two days a =

week so starting September = 22nd, George will only be in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays. I will try to be in the office on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, from 1 (or 1:30) PM to 6 PM. The office will be closed on Frida= ys. However any calls will be taken by Darlene on that day. George and I have discussed the ro= utine and think we should have no trouble keeping up. If our hours have to change for vacations, etc, we will post the changes on the office door. Happy Birthday George and enjoy the extra time with Roberta and the family! I cannot believe the summer is alm= ost over. We had such a late spri= ng that I pray that we have a long fall. The new roof project is taking much longer than I ever imagined and I thank everyone for your patience.

STAR PART= Y?

3DSta= On Wednesday evening, Sept. 10, the= re will be an interesting event on Jupiter.&n= bsp; One of its moons will reappear from having been in the shadow of Jupiter. What we hope to see (weather permitting) is one of its moons appear out of thin air! That is, one moment there will be nothing there and then the next moment, voila, a “new” moon.

If we get rained (or even “clouded”) out on Sept. 10, there will be another similar event on Monday Sept. 22 as well. Hopefully, we will be able to make= one work.

Just come out the sliding doors in the Pool Room and o= ur large telescope will be set up out back, on the golf course fairway. (We have obtained permission from = Southview Country Club for this.) The telescope will be set up by 9 p.m. Maybe Mary will bring a = little wine . . .

YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR OWN NEIGHBO= RS!

We are renting apartments as people leave but we would rather have YOU choose your own “pre-qualified” neighbor rather than us! That way, you won= 217;t have to be introduced!

We still have a 2BR facing north available. The north facing units are nice be= cause air conditioning bills are less in the summer and, although heating bills a= re more expensive, the heat is included in the rent.

Choosing Your Own Neighbors is Easy! Just give George the name and = number of someone you think might be looking for a nice apartment. That’s all there is to it. Or you can give the office number = (451-2633) to your friend. When your fri= end joins our little community, you will receive 2 one hundred dollar certifica= tes which can be used toward your rent in the month you choose to use them. (New Policy: They can also be exchanged for cash!)

Bring a game, deck of cards, snack to pass, or just come and join the fun. Coffee will be served and a p= op machine is available in the pool room. If you want something else to drink, feel free to bring it with you. Some games will be provided.<= /li>
Every Thursday from 7—9 p.m.=
Most Fridays (Watch the Bulletin Boards)
Sit back and enjoy our home t= heater in the Club Room beginning at 7:00 p.m.
AEROBI= CS: Every Saturday at 10:00 a= .m. (and Mondays at 1 p.m.)

Aerobics is a good way to exercise without putting the stress on bones and joints that walking and other exercise can do. Everyone agrees our leader, Jared Fuller, is the greatest instructor ever!&n= bsp; Best of all, it’s all totally FREE! Please join us for CCM Aerobics held every Saturday morning at 10:00 AM, and Monday evenings at 7:= 00 as well! The only cost is tha= t if you DON’T attend, your good health will suffer! So please come on down and visit y= our neighbor while losing a pound or two! Everyone is welcome.

Saturday Morning Coffee and Donuts:
This is a great way = to get to know your neighbors. = You do not need to commit to every Saturday.= If you can make it this Saturday, but have to miss the next thr= ee, that’s no problem. This is not like a golf or bowling league where = you must attend every week . . . or not at all! Please stop by when you get a chance and join in the fun.

If you’ve ever passed by the area between the ea= st Club Room door and the entrance to the 45 building, you no doubt have witne= ssed our “perpetual puzzle.”

THE PRICE OF GETTING OLD

Three elderly gents were discussing how they hoped the= ir grandchildren would remember them fifty years fr= om now.

“I would like my grandchildren to say, ‘He= was successful in business,’” declared the first man.

“I want them to say, ‘He was a loyal family man,’” said the second.

Then one of them turned to the third gent and asked, “So what do you want your grandchildren to say about you in fifty years?”

“Me? The third one replied. “I want them to say, ‘= He certainly looks good for his age.’”
